Biography

Sarah E. Silverman, PhD works as an independent faculty developer and teaches disability studies. Her work focuses on neurodiversity, universal design for learning, and accessibility in higher education. She is autistic, which shapes both her research interests and her approach to working with educators.

She teaches Disability Studies at Goodwin University and has previously taught at University of Michigan Dearborn, UW Madison, and UC Davis. She holds a PhD in Entomology from UC Davis and an Advanced Certificate in Disability Studies from CUNY School of Professional Studies.

She has presented at or consulted with Barnard College, Swarthmore College, University of Pennsylvania, University of Vermont, UC Davis, Colleges of the Fenway, University of Iowa, and University of Notre Dame.

Her book, Classroom Mindscapes: An Introduction to Neurodiversity for Educators, is published by the University of Oklahoma Press as part of the series Teaching, Engaging, and Thriving in Higher Ed, edited by James M. Lang and Michelle Miller.
